DIRECTOR

Eric M. Mwangi is a Kenyan Cinematographer and Director dedicated to expanding the African Cinema language by telling authentic, impactful stories with a global reach. After completing the American Film Showcase residency at USC, Eric has focused on crafting narratives that not only entertain but inspire change, bridging cultures through powerful storytelling. Being the founder of Nairobi-based Ripple Productions Ltd, he’s committed to sharing African stories that resonate with audiences worldwide. 


Eric’s work spans documentaries, commercials, and short films, collaborating with leading media outlets and production companies. His directorial debut, *ACT OF LOVE*, premiered to critical acclaim, exploring maternal mental wellness with emotional depth. In 2024, his project *Empalikino* won the Best Pitch Award in the Nature and Conservation category at Sunny Side of the Doc, becoming the second African selection to receive this honor in the market's 35-year history.


His recent projects include two documentaries under Video Consortium’s Solutions Storytelling Project—*FUNDING AFRICA*, which addresses systemic inequities in philanthropy, and *ISLAND OF HOPE*, showcasing a healthcare revolution on Idjwi Island in the DRC. Eric’s storytelling continues to push boundaries, expanding the African Cinema language and captivating global audiences with narratives that drive meaningful conversations.
